I made the fairy house from a small birdhouse from the craft department at Wal-mart. I left the hole as a window and cut out a door. The roof was painted then I glued on mosaic glass pieces, I had a glass dragon fly that I glued on top. I used flat marbles for the yellow brick road. I had a fern, moss, Swedish Ivy, creeping Jenny and a wild violet that I planted in about 2 inches of dirt. I scattered a few shells and rocks for interest.
I found the chair and squirrels at a gift shop, they were only about $6.00 for all 3. I have been scouting out thrift stores, garage sales and goodwill for more elves, animals, and furniture, so I can make both of my sisters and daughter a fairy garden.
I found the elf/gnome at Cracker Barrel for $1.00. He was part of a salt and pepper shaker set. Just shows you have to keep your eyes open. you never know where you might find a treasure!
